These Mentorship and Opportunities Terms apply when NuvStem helps connect a student with a mentor, industry professional, researcher, employer, project sponsor, capstone sponsor, internship, research opportunity, funded project, or similar opportunity.
These Terms supplement the NuvStem Terms of Service.
Under the current mentorship model, NuvStem primarily facilitates matching and introductions.

Participants must conduct their own due diligence before sharing confidential information, accepting work, travelling, meeting privately, spending money, signing an agreement, or relying on a person's professional claims.
Students participating in introductions must:
Mentors and opportunity providers should clearly and honestly communicate, where relevant:
NuvStem may remove or restrict opportunity listings or participants that are misleading, exploitative, unsafe, unlawful, or inconsistent with NuvStem policies.
An opportunity may involve:
Participants are responsible for determining the legal and institutional rules that apply to the arrangement.
Describing an activity as “mentorship,” “internship,” “volunteering,” or “research” does not by itself determine its legal status.
Before sharing confidential or proprietary information, participants should determine:
Do not upload third-party confidential information to NuvStem unless you are authorized to do so and the upload is necessary.
NuvStem does not determine ownership of inventions, code, designs, reports, research results, patent rights, copyright, or other intellectual property created in a mentorship or opportunity.
Students, mentors, sponsors, employers, institutions, and research organizations should agree directly on intellectual-property terms before substantive work begins where ownership may matter.
Institutional, employment, research-grant, or sponsor agreements may affect ownership.
After an introduction, participants may choose to communicate outside NuvStem.
NuvStem does not control or supervise ordinary off-platform communications or meetings.
Participants should:
Additional safeguards apply where a participant is a minor.
Parent or guardian involvement may be required.
Mentors and opportunity providers must not use NuvStem to arrange unsafe, secret, sexual, exploitative, or otherwise inappropriate communications or meetings with a minor.
Where appropriate, communications and meetings involving a minor should include guardian, school, institutional, or other responsible adult involvement.
NuvStem is not an emergency service.
If there is an immediate threat to safety, contact the appropriate local emergency service.

Participants should attempt to resolve ordinary project, scheduling, scope, compensation, confidentiality, or intellectual-property disputes directly under their applicable agreement.
NuvStem may, but is not obligated to, help facilitate communication.
NuvStem may restrict a user or opportunity where conduct violates platform policies or presents safety, fraud, or abuse concerns.
